Puerto Williams is the southernmost town in the world, though it functions primarily as a naval base with a population of less than 2,500 residents. The town occupies the northern shore of Isla Navarino in the Beagle Channel. Chile built a naval base here in 1953. In Puerto Williams, you will be able to find the bow of the Yelcho. This was the tug, commanded by Captain Luis Alberto Pardo, which rescued Shackleton's men from Elephant Island.

Outside the town is an ecological park which is visited by students from all over the world. It is a research park rather than a tourist attraction. Marco, one of our crew members is one of the founders of the site and gives ship passengers private tours explaining the research done here.
