The last full day of my visit to Mexico City was a real treat. I went with a group from the American Embassy to the Hidalgo Winery located near Mexico City.
Full tables were set with china, silver forks and knives. There were dozens of crystal glasses at each setting. I was in for the surprise of my life.
First, the hosts brought out large platters of meat and fruit. Next, they brought out wines and brandies made at the winery. We were given not just samples of each but a full glass and refills if we wanted.
Our bus back to Mexico City was filled with cases of the wonderful wines from the Hidalgo Winery and many sleepy passengers.
