Our day began with a warm welcome by the residents of remote and peaceful Atiu. After a colorful dance presentation, we were taken on an island tour, including stops at a traditional marae (sacred site) built of limestone and coral, a plantation and Captain Cook's 1777 landing site. Our crew was challenged to a soccer match by the local Champions of the South Pacific. Our crew did not do well and the Captain of our Vessel was bruised all over by the time the match finished. A German film crew was on board our ship making a documentary and filmed the match.
